Brand activation: what a photo booth brings to a public event
A successful brand activation isn't measured in flyers handed out, but in how many people agree to spend a moment with the brand. That is exactly what a photo booth produces — and the Bombardier case at Stade Saputo puts numbers on it.
Why the photo booth wins at brand activations
In a stadium, a festival or a shopping mall, your competitor isn't the brand next door: it's indifference. The public came for something else. The whole difficulty of an activation is therefore earning a few minutes of attention voluntarily, without buying it.
The photo booth solves that with a simple, legible exchange. The visitor gives their time, they get a souvenir. Nobody needs to be told what a photo booth is or why they should walk over: the queue itself becomes the signal, and a crowd attracts a crowd.
Above all, the brand doesn't sit beside the souvenir — it sits inside it. The custom filter frames every photo in your colours, your logo and your message. When the participant shares their shot, they broadcast your visual identity to their network, for free, with their own face vouching for it.
The Bombardier case: eight CF Montréal games at Stade Saputo
From May 11 to July 6, 2024, Bombardier had a presence at eight CF Montréal games at Stade Saputo. The activation, conceived and produced by the agency Franchir, occupied a 100-square-foot footprint and had to reach the match-day crowd dynamically, appealing to children and adults alike.
The agency's stated objective was threefold: popularize the brand with the Montreal public, position Bombardier as a leader in aviation, and reinforce the brand's positive reputation. The chosen thread — creating memorable souvenirs during a family outing — led naturally to the photo booth.
| Metric | Result |
|---|---|
| Activation length | 8 games, May 11 to July 6, 2024 |
| Footprint | 100 square feet |
| Visitors welcomed | more than 2,500 people |
| Souvenir photos produced | more than 800 |
Related to the footprint, the order of magnitude speaks for itself: 25 visitors per square foot over the run of the operation. Few activation setups reach that density on such a small footprint — a decisive point when match-day floor space is negotiated by the square foot.

A second case: Desjardins at the Jeux du Québec finals
The format repeats on another sporting ground. At the Jeux du Québec finals in Laval, Desjardins ran an operation with CRI agence called "Vague d'encouragement", aimed at the athletes and their families.
The setup combined three timed challenges — mini-golf, basketball hoop, giant baseball catcher —, temporary tattoos handed out by coaches, and a GIF and Boomerang photo booth. Ouisnap appears as a partner.
The lesson is the same as for Bombardier, with one useful nuance: here the booth didn't carry the activation on its own, it closed it. The challenges create the effort and the crowd; the booth turns that moment into an object the participant takes home. It's a combination that works particularly well with a family audience, where not everyone wants to run but everyone wants the photo.

What a public activation demands of the booth
A brand event doesn't have the same constraints as an office party. Three differences carry real weight.
Technical independence
In a stadium, public Wi-Fi is saturated the moment the gates open and the venue network is never opened to vendors. The Ouisnap booth carries its own 5G SIM card: it sends photos without relying on the site's infrastructure. It sets up in 30 seconds and runs with no technician tied to the zone — remote support stays reachable at all times.
Throughput
Spectator flow arrives in waves, at the gates and at half-time. The booth handles up to 120 photos per hour, and each photo frequently holds an entire family. That's what absorbs the peaks without creating a queue that puts people off.
Light
Full late-afternoon sun, then stadium floodlights: conditions change hour by hour. The on-board AI automatically adjusts exposure, white balance and contrast on every shot. Without it, half the souvenirs from a day game would be unusable — and a bad photo is never shared.
The three numbers to track
An activation is judged on data, not on impressions. Three indicators are enough:
- Participants — how many people agreed to enter your zone. This measures how attractive the setup is.
- Photos produced — how many souvenirs were created. A photo holding several people is worth several impressions.
- Send rate — what share of participants entered an email to receive their photos. This is your real engagement metric, and the door to a contact database.
On that last point, one detail that matters in Quebec: collecting emails falls under Law 25. Consent must be freely given, informed and verifiable, and the purpose clearly stated to the participant. A photo-delivery form that quietly feeds a newsletter list does not meet that standard.
Organizing your activation
The process is the same anywhere in Canada. You describe your event, its date and expected attendance: we reply within 24 hours with a detailed quote. Our designers create your custom filter within 24h of receiving your artwork. On the day, the booth is set up — by your team after free pickup in Saint-Lambert or Quebec City, or by ours.
For a brand operation, several options combine well: carousel mode, which projects the photos live and turns one participant's turn into a show for the next; the logo mosaic, where the shots gradually assemble your logo; and the on-site host, who pulls in the hesitant passer-by. Carousel mode is included in the base package; the others are priced in your quote.
