How much does a photo booth cost in Quebec?

Short answer: $199 to $1,500 CAD, taxes extra, depending on the hours covered and what the package includes. That is an enormous spread for the same object, and it deserves an explanation rather than an average.

At Ouisnap the grid fits in three lines for private events: $450 CAD without printing and with pickup at our offices, $625 CAD without printing and with delivery, setup and pickup, and $625 CAD with printing and pickup. Surveying the rate cards published by suppliers active in Montreal and Quebec City, four billing models emerge. They — not the hardware — account for most of the variation.

Why two quotes are not comparable

You ask three suppliers for the same date and receive three unrelated numbers. It is not that one is expensive and another cheap: it is that "photo booth" describes different services. Four items explain nearly all of it.

The billing model

This is the decisive point, and the most often overlooked. Most Quebec rate cards are hourly: a three or four-hour package, then $100 to $200 for each additional hour. An office party that runs long, a wedding stretching from cocktails to last call, a two-day trade show — the real invoice ends up bearing little resemblance to the advertised price.

Our grid rests on a different principle: the booth is rented for the whole weekend, with no hourly formula and no overtime charge, and it can even be moved between venues from Friday to Sunday. The trade-off is deliberate and worth stating plainly: several competitors bill for an operator present all evening, whereas the Ouisnap booth is built to run on its own. If you want someone greeting your guests at the booth, a host remains available as an option, priced in your quote.

Delivery

The second source of variation, and the most common. A very low starting price almost always assumes you collect the equipment yourself. That is a perfectly reasonable choice, provided it is stated. We say it up front: delivery is never included in our base price. Pickup at our Saint-Lambert or Quebec City offices is free; delivery with setup and pickup costs $175 CAD within roughly 25 km of either point; beyond that, travel fees apply by distance. Anywhere else in Canada, the booth ships by courier or mail, priced in your quote.

Printing

Some offers include it, others bill it, others cap the number of prints — a detail sometimes discovered on the night itself. With us, printing costs $175 CAD more and prints are unlimited for the whole event, in 4×3 inch Polaroid format or 4×6 inch postcard.

The options

This is where suppliers differ most. Two characteristics weigh heavily on the day and appear on no rate card. The first is autonomy: the booth sets up in 30 seconds on a single power outlet, no technician is required, and its built-in 5G card makes it independent of the venue's network — which matters in a community hall, a park, or a hotel basement. The second is throughput: up to 120 shots per hour, enough to absorb a two-hundred-guest cocktail without a queue forming.

How to read a quote

Four questions are enough to make two offers comparable. How many hours does the package cover, and what does an extra hour cost? Are delivery, setup and pickup included, or must you collect the equipment? Are prints unlimited or capped? Is a security deposit required?
