What budget should you plan for in Quebec in 2026?

Surveying the rates published by providers active in Montreal and Quebec City gives a wide range: $495 to nearly $1,300 CAD, plus taxes, for a wedding. The gap isn't explained by quality, but by two variables that advertised prices often hide: how long the booth stays, and whether an attendant is included.

The number to watch isn't the amount, it's the duration. Nearly all of these packages cover 2 to 3 hours, with an additional hour billed between $100 and $200. A typical wedding — from cocktail hour to the end of the night — easily runs eight hours. A booth at $695 for 3 hours therefore passes $1,200 once the full evening is covered.

That's where our grid reads differently: $450 CAD for the whole weekend, with no hourly package and no overage. The trade-off is deliberate and worth stating plainly: our competitors also bill for an attendant present all evening, whereas the Ouisnap booth is built to run on its own. If you want someone greeting guests at the booth, a host is available as an option, on quote — and the comparison becomes roughly even.

Why two quotes don't compare

You request three prices for the same date and get three unrelated numbers. It isn't that one provider is expensive: it's that "photo booth" covers very different services. Four line items explain most of the gap.

Duration

Check this first. Many price lists are built around a 3- or 4-hour package, with a surcharge per additional hour. A wedding doesn't fit in four hours: between cocktail hour and the end of the night, eight often go by. At Ouisnap, the booth is rented for the whole weekend, with no hourly package and no surcharge. It can even be moved between venues from Friday to Sunday.

Delivery

The second source of variance, and the most common. A very low starting price almost always assumes you'll collect the equipment yourself. That's a perfectly valid choice — as long as it's stated. We prefer to say it up front: delivery is never included in our base price. Pickup at our Saint-Lambert or Quebec City offices is free, delivery with setup and pickup costs $175 CAD within a 25 km radius, and the booth ships by courier or by mail elsewhere in Canada.

Printing

Some offers include it, others bill it, others cap the number of prints. With us, printing costs $175 CAD more and prints are unlimited throughout the event, in 4×3 inch Polaroid or 4×6 inch postcard format.

Staffing

An attendant on site all evening is several hours of labour, and it shows in the price. Because our booth is fully self-service — 30-second setup, immediate touch interface, built-in 5G SIM card — nobody needs to be stationed beside it. Remote tech support is available anytime and our team answers the phone during your event. An on-site host remains possible, as an option, on quote.

Photo booth or photographer: what are we really comparing?

The question comes up often, and the comparison misleads. A wedding photographer sells time, an eye and post-production: they document the ceremony, direct the portraits and deliver a coherent series weeks later. Nobody replaces that with a booth.

The booth does something else: it gets people involved. It captures the moments the photographer isn't there for — the aunt in costume at 11 p.m., a table of eight squeezing into frame — and above all it gives guests a souvenir to take home that night. The two complement each other far more than they compete. In practice, the vast majority of the weddings we work have both.

When to book

Quebec's wedding season concentrates on June through September, with heavy pressure on late-summer Saturdays. For those dates, plan 4 to 6 months ahead. Off-season, a much shorter lead time is plenty — and a last-minute request is always worth making: we confirm availability within 24 hours.
